RNS 510 - TV - Bluetooth - MDI
« on: November 22, 2012, 11:56:53 am »
I have just installed an RNS 510 into my 57 plate Golf Edition 30 the installation went well and the system is working as expected. I would like some advice and thoughts on additional functionality and extras that i could get to optimise the unit.

Firstly, I have a IO play blue tooth kit, is it something i could like up to the RNS? if not and i need to go down the route of a OEM bluetooth kit what are peoples thoughts on them? are they good and worth the money?

Before i installed the RNS i was able to go through and select radio stations through the steering wheel controls, i am not not able to do that, is that just a case of hooking up the vag com and enabling that setting? does anyone know anyone in Fife that would be willing to do it?

I am also interested in getting the TV in the car and to do this i would need a tuner, does anyone have any experience with this? is the signal good and is there alot of work in the installation, ive been told there needs to be various aerials and antenna to make it work correctly?

sorry for posting questions that have probably been answered a thousand times.

cheers,
Stu

Oem bluetooth using the rns-510 can be found really easily for about £130-£150 including the loom

The steering wheel controls just need coding in as you say

no sure about fife, but depends where abouts you are.

Theres a member on here who lives in dundee, that i'm sure if you chopped him in two, he'd be VW all the way through.. (not that i recommend chopping him in two)

Golfman (Scott) comes highly recommended! i live in dumfries, yet would be more than happy to travel to dundee for him to work on my car!!

The 5k0 /7p6 Bluetooth kits are great, I have one with my rcd510, and very impressed!
VCDS cable HEX-USB+CAN. New but can do the basics including coding
