Thats crap then, could just have been unlucky, Depo are generaly considered OE quality.  Did you get the beams adjusted and what bulbs were you using?

Yes all adjusted and using osram night breaker plus bulbs ...instead of illuminating straight ahead of you you had a dead spot in front of car and it illuminated side to side in a wide arc...there was also no kick in the beam as with normall lights and you could see this on beam tester

sent using my own fingers

Mine were like that with H7's, practically useless, now I've got an HID kit installed they are pretty much spot on, consistent beam pattern ahead and to the left, not quite up there with the output OEM Xenons but close enough! I couldn't go back to normal halogens now...

I'd be interested to hear if other members have had a similar problem, they might be cheap, but I'm still not shelling out over 200 quid for a pair of lemons!!!

Im happy with mine with the hid kit in. I have nightbreakers as a main beam and find the light output is good.

I'm still running std lights . Don't know if i could justify spending ££ on HID kit or Xenons at the moment. Just ordered Philips h7 Xtreme vision bulbs to see if they're any better than the standards.

Joe, what type of HIDs have you fitted? I would run non canbus if I got the lights, had a set in my vRS for years with no issues. I assume the Golf can be coded to xenons without shutters on controller 10, or is it 16?

They are a random set from in my brothers garage. Think they are non-canbus ones. Coded them as you are planning anyway

As promised, here the before and after 6 o'clock mod pictures:
I quess I don't need to tell you guys which photo is with the 6 o'clock mod
Looks so much better now! No two ground shadow stripes anymore.

I have these Depo lights for about a year know.
Still happy with them. One time I washed the car a little to thoroughly (also used a presure washer under bonnet) and the depo headlights steamed up. Removed the steam by heating the headlights with a hairdryer. Never fogged up again...
Light output with my hid set is good after I did the 6 o'clock mod.
But still not as diffuse/spread as o.e.m. xenons (see my above pics).
Who has the same light pattern as mine?

I have these fitted & I have found myself getting closer & closer to the windscreen when night driving! - The light output is shocking! Im running nightbreaker +'s but in all honesty I may aswell strap a bloody torch to my head and hang out the window!

Anyone got any ideas? Will a HID kit solve this? As previously mentioned I seem to have the blind spots in the middle where there is no light being pushed out onto the road at all :/

Have you seen my above pics? Light output is good. Brighter as my o.e.m. Audi TT mk1 xenon.
But o.e.m. Xenon is more evenly spread.

I have the DEPO lights fitted with a 5k HID kit. The light output is brilliant. IMO these are not designed to be used with standard H7 bulbs.

Hi All,

I have been following this for a month to so now...just joined....hope you professionals can help me!

Gonna get the DEPO Projectors from Eurowagens...will they fit on my standard mk5 golf rabbit?

If so, direct swap yes? Why all the coding on VAGCOM for the shutters? And what does it actually mean turning the shutters off?

I don't have headlight washer system, mot tester said it will pass if aligned properly, and correct beam pattern!

Thanks All!!
:happy2:
