Coding is just for if you are fitting a 'non resistor' type HID kit to the projectors.
You set the coding to xenon so that you dont get any bulb out warning issues due to the lower voltage that the hid kit runs on which is similar voltage to standard Xenon lights.

Secondly on Oem xenons  if your headlights are off and you flash your lights (eg to warn an oncoming vehicle) the high beam will flash as with regular headlamps. If your headlights are on the shutter will move to provide the "flash" of light.
So by changing your coding to Xenon without shutter you get the benefit of no bulb out warning on dash and the ability to flash your headlights regardless of if you have your lights on or off.

Cheers I have a 35w 4500k set with the 6 oclock mod in mine.

No worries mate. Real simple to set up if you know your way around the basics on VagCom.Should work fine no probs on your car.
Where you based ? Should be someone on the Vagcom register near you who can sort you out.

Thanks again for the quick reply. I'll have a look on that thread, I'm in East London but I do know a VAG specialist who prob will know what to do.

The 6'o'clock mod is scaring me lol!

Are the bulbs easy to fit?

When i did mine i was changing from a set of 5000k to 4500k bulbs so was not under any pressure to rush and get it done. What i did was mark out the area i wanted to cutout with a marker and then Dremel out the excess metal from the bulb base. used one of my old head lights to trial fit before i actually fitted the moded 4500k bulbs.

Ok, Soooooooooo I need to do the following:

a) buy a HID kit - any suggestions on a slimline kit?
b) do the '6'oclock mod' - No idea what this is but will research on here tonight.
c) Find someone to code the HID's in?

Correct?

Guys

With the DEPO headlights, does the manual headlight adjustment work? 1/2/3? Is it the same with Hella too?

If not is it much of an issue if aligned properly, considering I do not have auto levelling feature..AGAIN....I have confirmed with my MOT tester it will pass MOT if the pattern is correct!

Thanks All!

Yes. Manual 1...2..3... Adjustment work.

No coding for xenon with shutters needed because the depo's have no shutters and use the h7 halogen bulbs for high beam.
So code with vcds 'xenon without shutters'.

Thanks Again Tim your so helpful!!

Do you know anyone in the East London / Kent area that can do this VCDS thing?
- Ill have a look at the register anyway!

Was worried their for a second the manual 1/2/3 adjustment wouldn't work, would case major issues.

I live in the Netherlands, so can't help you with vcds in your area ;-)
Be sure to buy a good hid slimline kit that doesn't cause the wiper motor interference/failure!

Thanks all for helping so far!

So with the Depo headlights how do you wire the HID's?

When I had a standard halogen headlights, id wire them to the bulb holder.

You see the primary linker, where would that be?

Thanks All :D
