Drivers window..
« on: November 18, 2012, 10:17:17 am »
When I go to close my drivers window, flick it up so it goes up on auto it will go all the way to the top and then will come straight back down to about 4 inches from the bottom and then I have got to put it back up again by holding the switch, as the auto will not work.
I have tried taking it up and down a few times thinking it would reset to the size of the window, turned it on and off and tried again but it still does it.
Anyone got any ideas please?? It is uite annoying now.
Thanks.

VW windows are infamous at being sheeet! I had a polo & the regulators used to break for a past time, I have also owned various other VAGs with similar common faults!

Try reseting them initially bud its always worth a try, you just hold the switch in for 10-12 seconds (i believe) with the window down, and then immediately take it back to top and hold it again for the same time.

What the man above says. Happened to mine and this is what I was told to do. Can't remember if it was, hold down then hold up or the other way round, either way it works.

Do let us know mate, failing this it could be the pinch mechanism (may have made that name up lol) -which ironically went on my car last week and I now have the joy of sorting.... Fekking windows lol!

Reset it by lock the door with the key.

How to...

Open the window and get out of the car.

Put the key to the locker and lock the car with the key. Hold the key to the lock position and the window will rise.

When the window is all the way up...you're done.

Now unlock the car, get in and have a try.

Had this on my drivers window for ages. I've tried all the different resets around, some work for a while but the problem does come back.

What I have found though is that it only plays up if the window is open a couple of inches. What I do now if the window is open a little bit is to open further then close. I also have to do this if closing the windows via the key fob. Window has never bounced back since I started doing this

Exactly what I do - works every time  :happy2:

Try this. Put window all the way to the bottom and then hold the button down for 15 seconds.
Then creep the window slowly back to the top by flicking the button, once it has reached the top then hold the button up for another 15 seconds and hey presto! This should sort it.
Hope this helps, and works for you.
