Help with a quote
« on: November 19, 2012, 11:33:41 am »
Hi guys

I need a little help - I have had a quote from my local dealership which is way more than I anticipated, this is what I need doing:

New rear brake disks
New pads all round
Brake fluid change
Fitting of dump valve

What would you say is a reasonable price for the above from a main dealer, and is there a better (but cheaper) alternative?

Thanks,

Em

I would say the disks & pads would be circa £150, the brake fluid change £50.00 then plus the labour.

So i'd say £275.00 - £325.00 from a main dealer

Where are you based?  You'd be better taking it a VAG specialist

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too, but oh no, they tell me it'll cost £475 all in... I was like "urrr no."

I'm in Newbury, Berks... Not sure of any good VAG specialists round here...  :ashamed:

Crikey I  was miles out!!!  :scared:

There's a couple of garages on this link - be worth phoning a few to get a rough idea - As long as the specialists use genuine parts its a no brainer!  I get my work done now by a vag specialist and they're usually 25 -50% cheaper!

That is probably about right. :surprised:

I added it up as 3 hrs Dealer labour which immediately knocks it up to £360 inc vat just for labour

I got £120 for parts adding it up.
