Recommended Android Head Unit?
« on: June 19, 2016, 07:19:19 pm »
Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade the standard head unit on my MK5 Golf and was hoping someone could recommend one? I need it to have the following features...

Android OS
Touch Screen
Sat Nav (which runs as a standard sat nav and doesn't run off data)
Bluetooth Compatible (to play music off my phone, not bothered about taking calls)
Compatible with my onboard CD changer
Priced up to £250 (although would buy second hand for a better unit)

Thanks!

Have a look on ebay that's where i got mine http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/asureplay?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2754  i had to install a switch to prevent bty drain but apart from that plug and play and no issues.

This thread might be helpful? http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=97725.10

I got one of these android headunits via ebay (seller called easyrising88), but it was a while back in 2015. I'm sure there are newer / better available Android headunits now. I'm still happy with my unit - it's not failed yet.

Lookout for a 2nd hand Zenec.

They're made in Germany and are designed for the MK5/6 platform (no cables etc needed and support canbus features). Such a difference in sound from the RCD300 too.

I got mine for ~£50 and has bluetooth, SD card, DVD (not the Nav model).

Ones with Nav are the ZE-NC2010 and ZE-NC2011. They usually go for around £150, the older model I have less than £100.

Thanks for the replies. I'd like ideally to still be able to use my 6CD Changer but am having trouble finding if any of these types of unit will be compatible. Does anyone know what I need to be looking for in terms of a connector/port with one of these units in order to have it work with my CD changer?
