^^^^ Are the ones you've bought the ones you linked to in Post 2? If so, completely different. Hella do make some ED30 rear light clusters.....

These are the rear lights I bought and I am delighted with them.
The mechanic who installed them also said they were of really good quality.

Have a read through here, if anything the LED's are safer from that point. http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,4469.0.html

Safer in the eyes of people on here who've installed them. Been behind loads of golfs with the stock lights and never had any issues seeing their indicator if they are breaking. The LED lights are fine, but just not to my taste.

The LED lights in post #2 are the mk6 R style, which I really don't like.

I have the LED lights in the below post which IMO look brilliant. Not sure about being more safe than standard but are fine.

No, the one's I got is this link...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260880027907?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Yes, very similar, if not a little darker in tint than the clusters in my ED30.

There the ones I'm ordering, personally prefer them to mine. Look good on RR's Tornado coloured car!

the led lights on post no 2 do NOT fit a gti unfortunately, look at the small print on the listing and I already asked them a week ago and they confirmed this, don't know why they don't fit.
out of interest you said you got a mechanic to fit yours ? isn't it just a few screws and plug and play, saw a vid on u tube, took no time ?
