MK5 GTI coilovers
« on: November 21, 2012, 09:12:24 pm »
Im sure this has been discussed before but im struggling to find anything with the search  :ashamed:

Ive just got a mk5 gti and after every other vw I have owned being lowered withing a few weeks of ownership the mk5's monster truck days are numbered
ive only had TA's (horrible) and AP's (semt great) before

so my question is with this amazing offer on the FK site at the moment are the fk's good enough or would I be better saving for H&R's or something else? if the FK's are good which ones would you reccomend? I dont want a crashy ride and would like to maintain as much comfort as I can.

cheers for any advice  :happy2:

I think the FK prices at the weekend where a mistake, they have been put back to normal now.

FK's are good if you want to slam the car. But with a GTI I'd go for something like AP, Weitec or KW. We have some great prices at the moment with the 5% off deal

its very good-- solid round the corners and they are not crashy or bouncy

They will quite low, not ground scraping low but they will stick the tyre in the arch low if that is what you are after? I wouldn't completely slam a GTI as you will ruin the handling.

Ive had 2 different sets of h&r's and love them the modified ultra lows are the best plus running them higher than the lowest setting means a silky smooth ride with a nice low ride height they use bilsteins so you know the handling is great to

The stance looks just like what I want on the KW's I would like the H&R's but not sure if I can justify the extra 400 quid, I'm only going to be driving on the road and maybe a couple of track days a year.
