Can someone explain revo switch
« on: December 02, 2012, 09:17:31 pm »
Off for a stage 2 remap on Wednesday at JKM on my ko3 gti.
I'm slightly concerned about the battery disconnect worry with settings changing.
What switch can I buy to be able to change settings back if battery disconnected? Will an sps3 work?

The Sps switch doesn't contain the settings the ecu does. By connecting the sps switch to your laptop, with the revo software you can then alter the boost, timing and fueling levels to your needs. Someone may correct me, but by disconnecting the battery it just reverts the car back to stock, the revo map is still on the ecu so it would just be a case of using the sps switch to alter the settings back as they were.

Not strictly true... the SPS does contain the numeric settings i.e B9 T6 F8 or B6 T6 F9. The map on the car contains all the information to allow these numeric values to alter the map. This is why it works in 5 seconds as its not having to write the whole map (a la Bluefin)

The Ecu contains the map.

When you disconnect the battery your settings revert to t0 b1 f0

A sps unit allows to to change these back what they should be at.

....So if the old SPS switches don't work on the new Revo software you are getting, why would you want to buy an older switch?

older switch does work, you just need the older software for your pc.
