Edition 30 Xenon Headlight Bulbs
« on: November 23, 2012, 04:16:40 pm »
The dashboard light came on today telling me there was an issue with one of my headlights.

After checking it seems that it's my drivers side headlight that is having problems.

When I switch the headlights on it flickers a few times then goes off completely.

Full beam is still working when I flick the left stalk on so it must just be the regular headlight bulb that is wonky.

Info panel on the dashboard says something like 'Front right dipped beam not working'.

Drove to my local VW Dealer and they said they wanted £105 + VAT fo the xenon bulb. I said this was too expensive so they've knocked £20 off making it £85 + VAT.

Parts guy spoke to the head mechanic who said he's never actually seen a xenon bulb failing and hasn't even fitted one so maybe it's just a loose connection or something.

Haven't ordered the part yet as I found the price a bit hard to swallow.

Anyone had any experience of this happening on their car with xenons or maybe recommend somewhere to source a cheaper bulb?

Hey I found this post searching for my issue.

I am getting the same message for the front left dipped beam.

Did you ever resolve the issue?

Best regards,

Just try the other sides bulb that will answer your question.

I had a xenon bulb  fail - it went pink, then off.

You can get Osram uprated ones for ~£100 a pair.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Where Napoleons armies marched with horse and musket and Hitlers Reich crumbled in blood and rubble, the warriors of Armageddon do battle against the landscape of hell now indeed thrive the ARMOURERS
