xenon upgrade options
« on: November 24, 2012, 09:52:16 am »
Hey guys,

I'm increasingly finding my standard headlights look pretty boring. I'm thinking its time to look at doing a xenon upgrade. What should I be looking for to do it parts wise and costs wise? I've never done something like this before so I may ask pretty daft questions! your patience & help appreciated!

Cheers,
Sean

plus an adapter loom from kufatec

to make it legal you will also need headlamp washers and headlight levelling

like if I bought these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK5-R32-GTI-XENON-HEADLIGHTS-OEM-PAIR-GENUINE-/181028518782?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a2623fb7e

plus these:

and the relevant bulbs is that all I need parts wise?

As mentioned, a loom.

Personally I'd get the whole lot inc bulbs from someone when they sell the complete set, usually go for around £450-£600 and £800+ if they are selling with washers and levelling.

No description at all with those ones on eBay, saw these the other day. No mention if all the lugs are intact or if they are left or right hand drive units either. You pays your money, you takes your chance.

You do not need washers and auto levelling but If they are fitted to the car or you fit them then they HAVE to work.

As long as the beams are all correctly aligned they will be fine.

IIRC they will also be fine regarding MOT (ie legal) as long as the Manual Headlight Adjuster Roller is replaced with the Single Dash Dimmer Roller as Xenons are auto levelling.

So get rid of this.....

And replace it with one of these.... (I think the Part number is 1K0 941 334)
