Servicing cost and remap
« on: November 26, 2012, 08:25:39 pm »
hello

been a busy boy today and trying to sort out the car so she is all up to date with servicing and cam belt and had a quote on a revo remap
was just wondering what people thought of the price ie am i paying to much ?

best prices so far Vagtech Milton keynes

major service- £236 with a free air con service (done a bit of haggling for that )
cam belt and water pump all in-£397

and the remap -£480

but thinking about getting in contact with vw as i see on there website they will match any quote within 5 miles
 cheers

As a general rule, work by privately owned independent specialist is usually of a higher standard than main dealers.

I for one count the stamp in my log book by a well known VAG Indy Specialised as a good thing and something that shows the car has been looked after by someone who knows what their doing. I would be much happier seeing their stamps in your book than a load of generic VW stamps with the work being carried out by god know who, all IMHO.

I use a VAG specialised and won't go to a main dealer for the very reason you mention but also because of the price. Recently had my major service, fuel filter and brake fluid change at JKM and was well over £100 cheaper than the quote I received from my local VW main dealer.

Ref the remap, get yrself up to Leicestershire to see Nick at R Tech, much cheaper and the map customed to yr car! You wont regret it!!!
