Replacing door reflectors with puddle lights on Mk5 Golf R32
« on: November 28, 2012, 08:35:15 pm »
Hi

I own a Mk5 Golf R32 which I bought to replace a Mk4 Golf 2.8 V6, now whilst I much prefer the interior of the Mk5, one of the things that I really liked on the Mk4 Golf was the puddle lights in the doors, which I guess were replaced by reflectors in the Mk5 to save money?

I was reading that you can purchase  puddle lights direct from VW that will replace the reflectors in the Mk5, but I assume you will need to do some sort of coding to make it work. I am completely rubbish at stuff like this and wondered if any of the members on here had performed the upgrade, and whether anyone on here would be willing to do the job on mine.....and be suitably compensated financially of course!

I'm in North London by the way!

Grateful for any advice.

Cheers

I have done it on a MKII TT, pretty straightforward job to do TBH, you need:

Lights
‘repair’ wires to power the lights from the door controllers
VCDS to code the controller.

It will help if you include your location so people can see if they are local enough to help you.
VCDS HEX-NET & VCP owner (covers all VAG cars)
(PM me if you require VCDS or VCP coding or scanning in Kent)
