I'd add the boot pop mod' to your car. Not only is it very cool but also (the main point for you) it adds much larger Pump Stops (these are also sprung) which will more than take up any play in the boot as they are adjustable. You could always just get the stops alone, swap them out and job done, takes about 2 minutes.

Boot Pop Kit Part Numbers

2x Skoda Fabia Gas Struts                    6Y0 827 550 C      £35.98 inc Vat for the pair
2x Scirocco (sprung) Pump stops          1K8 827 761 D.     £9.89 inc Vat for the pair. Bits that you need most!
2x Seat Leon Ball pins                           1J6 827 439 A     £11.97 inc Vat for the pair.

A "How to" guide on fitting the Boot Pop Kit (includes fitting bump stops).......

http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edoc/MK5RearHatchPop.pdf

If you go for the Boot Pop it will need coding via VCDS afterwards to allow the mod' to work.

Hope this helps  :happy2:

That is cool, in lieu of a proper remote hatch.

Can you get away with just fitting the Scirocco (sprung) bump stops?  Or are our gas struts just too weak.

Just grabbed a pair of the gas struts off ebay for a tenner; hope that's the right part# LOL

Without wanting to sound too stupid, can you get all of these parts at VW or do you have to go to the respective garages?  :ashamed:
Silver GTI, Revo Stage 1, R32 rear bumper, R32 exhaust, R32 rear lights, ED30 front splitter, RCD510, Lowered on Eibachs, open fog grills.

In my experience, it depends on the garage, some will be arsey and say they can't order them in... others will have them in stock or order them no probs.

I'm about to find out which from my local VW garage!

I found on my last mk5 the rattling went once I took the boot pop kit off and put standard back on.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Yes, no problem at all. It's a comman mod for the Mk5 golf.   :happy2:

That is cool, in lieu of a proper remote hatch.

Can you get away with just fitting the Scirocco (sprung) bump stops?  Or are our gas struts just too weak.

Just grabbed a pair of the gas struts off ebay for a tenner; hope that's the right part# LOL

I guarantee its its right part number as I took the part number from my invoice.  :happy2:

Oh and yes you can just fit the Bump stops, no problem. The Fabia Struts are a lot stiffer than the Golf ones and once they are on their way they will lift the boot easily but they do need that extra bit of help and that's where the Bump Stops come in. They help with the initial "push" of the boot when you press the key fob.

Yes, although it doesn't work so well in winter when cold.

If your local dealer is struggling to get you all parts, then there's a Skoda dealer on ebay I used to get all the bits.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Yeh it still works as normal. On a cold day it'll pop up an inch or so when pressed with the fob, and you have to just give it a gentle nudge underneath for it to fly up.

Otherwise use it manually no problem.
