Nope, you would still need an iso harness to connect from iso on the back of the radio to quad lock in the car. You could go for the cheaper ones, but they will probably need some wire splicing or cutting on some of them.

f*ck...this is mind blag :signLOL:  just want a sexy looking plug and play....just fancied something different to the RNS510

the Kenwood VW-only aftermarket retrofit, or a Zenec. neither are cheap, but they both have built in bluetooth and iirc the Zenec has DAB (or is at least DAB capable)

Yeah looking for something a bit cheaper than the RNS 510 (but still pretty decent) but looks like ill have to save pennies and buy it unless someone comes up with a idea that will fit the budget  :popcornsoda:

Just keep in mind, any after market unit, except those specifically made for VW, you install you will need the following:

Just remembered I uploaded some Zenec pics from my old car
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,43748.msg508087.html#msg508087

Now it's in our Altea

Have a look, there's so many to choose from for a mk5 so don't rush into buying a stereo. Check ebay.de for VW HU's too.

Like Squeeguk mentions, any generic double DIN needs adaptors or butchering of wiring to give it a switched live.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Ok well i think im gonna buy the RNS510 so it works with ease and keep it OEM. What specs should i be looking for with the RNS 510, like version number etc....
Thanks

What you need is a Connects2 sterring wheel adapter - think its a CT0002 - has the canbus box so sorts out the switched live for you too - so no wires cutting and bodging.

I've got a Pioneer FH-P80BT - with upgraded speakers all round and a 12" sub in the boot. I've got ipod connectivity & bluetooth - all I need! :)
