Heated seat wiring question
« on: November 29, 2012, 07:19:08 pm »
Im wiring up some heated 2008 GTi leather seats. The climbatronic connections are done. Ive got four grey wires from the Kufatec loom that go to the fuse box area and two earth connections that are connected. The two thick ones go to +30 perm live and one thin grey one goes to pin 1 on the central electrics "C". I have another plain, untagged thin grey wire. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm thinking switched ignition live. I've properly looked through previous threads to no avail. Also, is the heated seat module clearly on view under one of the seats? I just can't see it just the oblong seat plugs. Any input / advise would be fab.

The control box under passenger seat on a 2008 looks like this

Should the thin grey wire not go into the fuse box (bottom part of the heated seats fuse) to complete the circuit so a fuse can be added?
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Thanks for posting up! I cant see that module so perhaps its been taken off the seat before I got them. The Kufatec instructions read like this

Wire configuration with gray wirings:
(NOTE PRINTED CABLE)
Printing „Dauerplus Klemme 30“ – Permanent positive, fuse box
Gray cable (without print) – Permanent positive (ONLY in case of lumbar, electric
seats), fuse box

gray cable “Masse” – Ground point A-column driver site behind the cover
gray cable “C – PIN 1” – Control unit for central electric – Connector C – PIN 1

Connection Climat control unit 20-pole connector:
Wire with 2 looms: print “Blau” - PIN 10 (Climatronic) – PIN 13 for Climatic
Print “Blau Rot” - PIN 11 (Climatronic) – PIN 12 for Climatic
Single loom (without print) - PIN 12 (Climatronic) – PIN 15 for Climatic …
… Opposite to ignition positive, Fuse box SC7
After installation you need to code the control unit for central electric (address 09) to heated seats.
Byte 02 – Bit 7 – needs to be set to 1

Germans!! If they mentioned two unprinted grey cables i'd be sure. Thing is I have one thick unprinted one and a thin uprinted one. The thin one has the same size connector as the Pin 1 cable.

I'm sure the thin grey goes to the lower part of fuse 7, and you put a 5A fuse in to complete the circuit.

Been a while since I did it.

Heated seat module part no
« Reply #6 on: November 30, 2012, 01:28:00 pm »
Thanks for the replies. The seat module is indeed missing - I found the loom tucked away up in the seat. I need the part number of the module if its not too much trouble.

Yeh I missed out on one here last week.

Not in a desperate rush as I have a GTI MFSW but would like it for aesthetic reasons.
