Genuine VW iPod Connector help
« on: November 28, 2012, 08:45:54 pm »
Hi Peeps,

I've tried the search function and google but to no avail.
I have purchased the genuine VW iPod connector kit (1KO 051 444 E) as I would like to function of being able to listen to my Ipod in the car. The supplied instructions are next to useless, does anyone have any experience of installing this equipment or if you point me in the right direction I would be grateful.
Also, my radio is a RCD300 (single CD player) do I still retain the use of the single cd player function?

I've no doubt some knowledgeable member could shed some light on this for me  :happy2:

Cheers

Lee

it is fairly easy

remove 2 wires from the quadlock and insert them into the plug that is supplied with the kit

Then insert the wires from the loom into the quadlock

more of an issue is that the end result is rather poor

No track titles, only 6 folders, and doesn't charge newer ipods
Genuine VCDS VAG-COM HEX-USB + Genuine Vag Commander + Genuine VAG Tacho + Genuine VAG CAN PRO  + RNS Manager for Video in Motion and New Pin Code for RNS510

Any idea which two wires?

Cheers for the help Eddie.

I don't susspose anyone has a link to a step by step guide on how to do this?
I am slightly concerned about removing / altering the wiring to the radio unit.

Any further help would be really good.

Cheers Chaps.

I had one and the sound quality was horrendous with my rcd510.  Followed the instructions on moving the pin which made absolutely no difference at all.  Ended up pulling it out.
Silver GTI, Revo Stage 1, R32 rear bumper, R32 exhaust, R32 rear lights, ED30 front splitter, RCD510, Lowered on Eibachs, open fog grills.

Chaps,

I'm half way through doing this. I can not release the brown wire from the main wiring harness, the wires appear to be held in place with some form of purple safety locating trim.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks,
Lee
