Anyone have a ASUS RT-AC66u router?
« on: December 02, 2012, 07:10:55 pm »
Just grabbed one of these, it's a great bit of kit, with fantastic wireless coverage, however when I connect a USB device, if that be a NAS / Printer or plain HDD Dock... the connection gets really flaky, with constant dropouts.

Just wondering whether anyone else had this router with or without the same problem..

Cheers.

I don't have this router but is it using the latest available firmware?
Without traction power is nothing!

Cheers, yes the FW is up to date... Conincidentally, I only get around 14MB/s from wired 1Gbps desktop to router to USB HDD Dock; I thought I would be getting double that.

Still manages to stream 1080p flicks and surfing on two different devices: laptop and ipad.

It's started getting a lot better recently -- I think it may have something to do with the modem (DGN3500) or the ISP.

May look for an ASUS modem to pair with it... should have grabbed the N modem router in hindsight... the range on this is awesome though, covers as much area as I was able to with 2 wifi/modem routers before hand.
