My Mk5 TDI :)
« on: December 02, 2012, 07:57:01 pm »
Hi I'm Dave, been a member for a while and had a previous build thread butte images no longer work and it hasn't been updated for months so i decided to make a new one :)

Back story on the car:

I bought it bak in August 2011 as a completely standard 1.9tdi with 70k, FVWSH and 2 owners from new. I looked at 17 other Golfs before this and this was by far the best example i could find, it was immaculate inside and out.

Here's the car when i bought it

Since then the car has completely changed as i had my heart set on a silver gti and simply couldn't afford to insure one at the time as i was only 20 with a baby on the way and a deposit saved for a house so it had to be a TDI really.

Anyway since then i have done the following mods:

Genuine GTI Front Bumper
Genuine GTI Sideskirts
Genuine GTI Rear Bumper
Genuine GTI Exhaust
Genuine R32/GTI Boot Spoiler
Genuine Ed30 Rear Lights
Genuine GTI Headlights
Genuine Mk6 tailgate handle/badge
Debadged Golf and TDI badges
Genuine 18" BBS/GTI Monza 2s in Anthracite on Pirelli's
Colourcoded moulding and handles
Eibach Sportline -50/60mm springs
Full heated cloth R32 interior (same as GTI without tartan)
Awesome GTI remap to 150bhp

To do list:

Black headlining
Colourcode bumper and skirts
Ed30 splitter
And a few other bits (suggestions always welcome :))

I've probably missed out a few bits but thats the basics for now :)

Few current terrible quality pics (not many as it was only lowers 2 weeks ago and I've been busy with work and house stuff :()

Few better pics (before GTI headlights, springs and spoiler)

Will get more pics tommorow as i finally have a day off work :)

Comments/criticisms/suggestions etc welcome as always :)

Has been dude, the nighttime pictures its lowered theres now a lot less arch gap but i would like it lower on coilovers in the new year, the springs were a cheap stopgap and is a 50/60mm kit :)

Here's a better side picture

And previous arch gap to current arch gap:

Not looked at kw's, how's the ride quality?

My mates got FK's on his and its really really bouncy which i couldn't deal with

Thanks again for the reply :)

they are not bouncy at all even over pot holes etc and they don't rust either like the cheaper ones do-know they are more expensive but they are worth it
