VAG Commander / VCDS Gurus - Help! CLuster swap
« on: February 12, 2013, 04:29:05 am »

Hey guys,

I think RichN or Morty are my guys but haven't seen them around for a while  :sad1:

SO...

Ive been wanting to upgrade my small screen Cupra clocks since I got the car!  Ive missed out a few cheap Cupra clocks on eBay over the years.

I think

I could fit these;

Seat Leon Mk2 TDi Dashboard Cluster 1P0920947B Speedo Pod Clocks 1P0 920 947 B

[ebay]321041347030[/ebay]

and add Lockwood 160mph conversion decals, or even the decals out of my Cupra clocks?

[ebay]180978173675[/ebay]  Better that I re use my Cupra dials (if they remover out of the cluster) as obviously they say CUPRA on lol...

Are the Tdi ones able to be re-coded to my car? <<< Is the quiestion!

Thank you!

Lockwood dials are ugly. I once did exactly what you want wirh EU clocks and couldn't settle with them.

TDI ones only rev to 6k so you can't use your foils, maybe Kalu can reprogram the EPROM with petrol data.

Try mass emailing breakers on ebay, that's how I found Leon clocks for my Altea.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Thanks for the reply  :happy2:

I think finding clocks that were originally off a Cupra will make things more straighforward  :happy2:

No probs bud, I remember mentioning it to you before but they rarely come up. I look every now and then.

If making a compromise try get EU Cupra clocks rather than UK diesel ones, then you just need Lockwood inserts, rather than that plus a diesel to peteol reprogram.

By the way, what I found was Altea/Toledo/Leon clocks are the same other than the knob for changing the time which can be swapped over.

Might open up your search scope a bit, 2.0TFSI FR clocks should take Cupra inserts?

The Cupra emblem is on the rev counter so on EU clocks so I wouldnt need to change that bit, only the speedo the right.

I'll broaden my search to ebay.de  :happy2:

My version worked in our March 2007 Altea, and also the clocks I put in which I think were a bit newer. Trial and error really.
