Foot rest...
« on: June 27, 2009, 06:47:39 am »
Morning all,

It is my birthday today and as a treat to myself I purchased the seat inlays and foot rest off Gulfstream (mate if you are reading this they look awesome!  :happy2: ) but can someone tell me how to fit the footrest in place? Is there a guide anywhere?

Cheers,

Tom

happy birthday.

Foot rest - i used some blu-tack sticky/adhesive pads - they were tiny but i still had to cut them to size.

Seat inserts - ended up using superglue.

Others will recommend double-sided tape.

Don't forget the red tape!

Happy Bday!  :drinking:

glad someone else asked this question..  :ashamed: lol
and double sided tape is a good answer! i used that for the seat inlay thingys, but thought would have to use bolts for footrest.. but now.. now im getting the tape back out.lol

The footrest is held in place by three screws. Undo them and it comes out easily. Gulf send screws with the footrest, so you simply lune up, mark and drill 3 holes. I used a 3m double sided red tape that I got in b&q to highlight the gaps.

There's loads of info on the site how to do it. It does look good.

Gulf send screws with the footrest

Only if you go for the foot rest with screw holes in it. I went for the screw-less one.

I used the proper bolts that are sent with the foot rest for mine - looks much better this way IMO.

There is a large screw just behind the brake pedal, and a second screw on the right side of the footrest. You can see both in the pic below...

Remove both of these, and the entire plastic casing slides up and out very easily.
You can then fit the footrest with ease using the bolts.

Put some red insulation tape or somet behind the 'GTI' cutout to make it look even better

For the seat inlays, use the same red tape trick to make the 'GTI' red, and use double sided sticky tape to stick it down into place. You dont really want to use super glue in case you ever want to remove the inlays - to clean them if they get dirty for example.

^ Got a non-ebay link to where I could purchase that or similar at all please ITFI?

They're about £25 on there and I'm not totally sure where you can specify you want the GTi one, as there's a choice.

Hi all.

IFTI explained it all.. Just a couple of plastic screws hold on the footrest, remove, lift up and off.. Line it up and mark and drill the top right hole.Locate it with the bolt etc,not too tight so you can manouver it into position to mark the other 2 holes.Job done.

RDFC.
Beware of imitators..I sold a batch of pedals to a nameless company which promptly copied. The even had a stall at GTI flogging them.Ah well, thats the 3rd to do it,buy a load then copy them.Too idle to do the design work.Anyway I,ve PM,d you details.
