wow, all kicking off on this thread then!

I think I'd be happy with a base spec one, as they come with half leather heated seats by default.
Rear sensors would be good but can live without, cruise I hardly ever have the chance to use, sat nav would be retrofitted and so is the only must.

Now the small matter of selling my 330 convertible... maybe I should wait for the first shoots of spring at least... but that's another argument!

No, unless it was either spec'd separately... or spec'd with sat nav.

for what its worth I waited a long time for mine to come up... but then im fussy. Wanted a certain spec and had to be one of 2 colours only. I was happy to pay a little bit more that some of the other ones around at the time.

was offered one much cheaper which had been ragged to death by a couple of guys at my gym.... obviously turned this down, but whoever bought it didnt quite get the bargain they though they did.

:signLOL:

IM gonna keep mine for as long as possible.... cant afford to change it and dont want to.  :happy2:

ditto.

99% of cars depreciate. the gti less than your average car. the ed30 less than the gti. the true ltd edition pirelli less than the ed30.

just buy what you want and drive the fricking thing and enjoy it, a car is not an investment
Diamond Black Pearl Edition 30, still going strong but now back to Stg 1

I can't live without cruise control (heavy right foot coupled with a car that likes to cruise at over 100) and parking sensors are nice to have, as are Xenons (rather than the standard candles), armrest is comfy for longer journeys and auto lights/wipers is usefull as are heated mirrors and washer jets in the winter, the thing I could live without is the RNS510 and yes you can get it retro-fitted (probably around £600+ to do that tho.

MFSW is the thing I probably most use  :happy2:

When new the Ed30 was about £2K more than a 'normal' GTi.

In late 2006/early 2007 when I was making the move to a Mk5 Golf GTi. I'm kinda glad I went for the Ed30.
Didn't know about the KO4 fitment back then, so made my judgement purely on spec and the 'want' factor I got after driving one.
Would have probably been chuffed with a standard GTi but really thought I was gonna keep this car for a while so bought the 'limited' version.
Bought it in the colour/spec I wanted (with budget limits), rather than the black or grey the saleman tried to get me to order.
So in March '07 mine was a really rare colour, 3 dr Candy White, with sunroof (£515) and Xenons (£725).

Now approaching 6 years and still think it's great. Two years down the slippery modding.
So cannot see a point in selling it, therefore at this stage not especially worried about depreciation, then when/if it gets sold, it's worth what it's worth then.
Probably 50p by then.

To those looking for Ed30 or a Mk6 GTi enjoy the searching and hope you find a cracking car and good price.

When a couple of us went on the VW, Mk6 GTI launch they mentioned sales figures for all previous carnations of the GTI. I cant remember them all but i seem to remember figures for the Mk 2 and the Mk 5. The Mk2 sold something like 18000  in the UK and 5000 ish Mk 5's.

If i have remembered the numbers correct that makes 2200 ED30's and around 3000 GTI's. So the Eddie can hardly be called exclusive.
You have to remember 95% of owners are not enthusiasts like us lot and dont even know the differences between a GTI and a ED30 apart from the wheels. The second hand values are based on a percentage of the new price cost + a little bit for perceived better spec and colour.
You only have to look at our car sale section to know that nearly all owners of GTI's and ED 30's ask more than they will realistically get as it is human nature. It is only a lump of metal but to it's owners it holds lots of memories and is a reflection of our status in society.

According to howmanyleft website there are 4021 GTI's on the road and 2139 Edition 30's (although in 18 months of knowing about Edition 30's I have only ever seen 4 of them against many many GTI's so I guess that most Edition 30 owners must not use them much

Enthusiast owned cars agreed, people buy an Ed30 as they know its different to std GTI, second hand values based on a %age, bit of a sweeping statement there, would love to pick up  a ferrari 250GTO for a percentage of its original £15K price tag

On a more serious note, as a sweeping generalisation thats how many car valuers value cars a percentage after 3 years with depreciation each year further to that (Ed30's are supposed to be valued at 51% of origninal purchase price after 3 years), but in reality the more a car is coveted/collected/demand outstrips supply you get higher prices.

Std Price £23045 (5dr)
DSG £1080
Sat Nav £1845 (Includes NAV, Armrest and Highline)
MFD £395
Winter Pack £225
Luxury Pack £100
Privacy Glass £175
Bi-Xenons £750
Reverse Parking Sensors £370
Sunroof £515
Cruise Control £270
TPMS £ ??
Rear Side Airbag System £235

So that makes a well specced original price 5dr ED30 £29045 compared to a Poverty Spec 5dr Ed30's £23045, based on your percentage values that makes a well specced Eddie 25% more valuable than a poverty spec, add in colour (we all know RED/Black and Silver colours cover a large %age of the Ed30's, surely making Candy White and Steel Grey "rarer"), mileage and service history factored in and you have vastly differing prices for Ed30's, just my tuppence worth  :happy2:

If someone is looking for a basic spec Black.Red or Silver Edition 30 they have a few to choose from, someone looking for a White or Grey car will have much less to choose from.  :happy2:

Most people who want a Golf GTI will buy one (it's want they want, heart rules head), those that are wanting an Edition 30 know it's different

Another way of looking at the "Rarity" is not just down to how many made, for buyers it is how many are for sale at any given time (when they are looking to buy) for standard Golf GTI's there are usually anywhere from 200-350 on sale on autotrader/Ebay at any one time on the other hand there are usually only around 18-25 Edition 30's  :happy2:

That's a nice car and I think £10995 for an 07 3dr with 2 options is probably on the money, some person is driving with a smile on their face  :happy2:
