Glad to hear you got them sorted... don't be too hard on the F1's though, all summer tyres are next to useless in those conditions, the compound just isn't designed for it.

I think if we have another harsh winter then the government has to look at legislating the use of winter tyres - too many accidents, traffic jams caused by the wrong tyres this time of year.

Honestly, I think they look OK. Your satisfaction will come with your cars ability to tackle anything thrown at it. The year I first got snow tyres I was finding hills on purpose just so I could thrown the car up them!

cheers guys, yeah my grip is emense now, as you say the government need to do something about this, 2 more people died today in Aberdeen / shire due to crashes, every day front page news
this needs fixed.
im going to look for black monzas I think or something similar,,, something 16inch which looks good, second hand is ok also
if anyone reading this thread does not have snow tyres - GET THEM -, don't be on the front page tomorrow also

I ran my mk4 anni with steel rims and winters when needed. It gave great confidence in winter, more importantly it protected my rims, so easy to kerb a rim in the snow!!!

of course safety is paramount and is the reason I got the snow tyres / wheels sourced and fitted within 24hrs of slipping.
very happy with them so now that the panic is over I can have a look around for some second hand 16i wheels.

of course look is important although not critical, one of the reasons for buying a gti isn't it
