Help required from early mk5 Gti owners with highline.
« on: December 04, 2012, 09:41:19 pm »
Hi

Need to ask for a bit of help from you guys on here with highline, particularly if you have a manual mk5 gti 2005-2006.

When you go out in your car and you put your key in, turn ignition on. If you open your car door, the picture of the car automatically comes up on the display showing you which doors open. Can anyone tell me if there says 'Vehicle Status' or anything else along the top part of the display screen. It would be great if anyone could post up a photo or even a video.

Since I installed my polar fis (currently removed) the top part of my display has gone black and I am sure it was not like that before. Polar are telling me some early clusters are like that because of different firmwares etc. Im not convinced.

Cheers in advance.  :notworthy:

Here is what mine looks like now:

And in Mandys it looks like this which is what I think they should all look like:

Revo | S3 Front Brakes| VCDS (Don't know how to use )

Also. Golf R, Rising Blue, DSG, Leather, 19" Tallys, RVC, RNS510 DAB, F+R Park Sensors, Hill Hold, CC, DynoAudio, H&R ARBs, Milltek Non-Res CatBack, Garage Vary Carbon Fibre Lip.

Ill have to double check when I get my car back from the dealer. Mine is an 05
I'm pretty sure mine doesn't say vehicle status but when the car is running the whole highline is definately displayed.

Thanks. Yeah my highline is fully displayed in all other menus, just the home menu (not sure of proper name) the top part goes black. I just dont think it was black before.

Mines an 06 manual with highline, and it definitely doesn't say vehicle status when a door is open. The top part is lit up though.

Thanks andrew. Ok so Im not 100% sure that mine did say Vehicle Status but I am 99.9% sure it was at least lit up. Something just looks odd to me and I must've noticed something is different compared to before. Just seems too black.

Mine is the same as the pic above

It was a black line for a while but I got the clock back after messing about with the polar

I'm still randomly losing menus though

I have a dsg box and mine shows the clock where you have nothing.

Initially the clock was in the middle of that upper screen but now it's to the right after fitting a rns510. I can't recall seeing 1/1 on that screen though.

btw I also have a silver polar fis+ advanced unit installed and the above holds true with polar firmware versions 0.2.7, 0.3.0 and the latest 0.3.1.
Without traction power is nothing!

I have just done a video to show what happens to mine. When I first get in my car mine shows the clock to the right but when I put my key in and go through the menus, this is when I get the black screen at the top of the home screen.
