Downpipe, Pre-Cat, Flexipipe, Main Cat...
« on: December 04, 2012, 09:45:30 pm »
In fear of sounding a bit thick :) how much of the GTI system can be taken apart?

I'm after a standard DP with pre-cat in so that I can remove it and give to the garage to fit.

However, is the DP welded to the flexpipe and flexpipe welded to the main cat? == equaling one piece!?
Meaning I'd have to grab the lot to swap out?

The gti exhaust is only in 2 parts, you will have to remove the front part from the turbo them there is a joining sleeve in the middle.

Everything is welded together apart from where the 2 pieces split in the middle of the car

Cheers for that... do you know whether the sleeve is pre or post cat?

IS it:

Piece1: DP/Flexpipe/Tube/Cat
Piece2: Tube/Backbox/Tailpipe

Or is the cat in piece2

Thanks for your help.
