Even if you changed the follower every 10k then the cam would have still worn and needed replacing at some point.

mine went like this at 65k miles
2006 gti revo stg1 - Was revision A camshaft.

....I guess that means that my 06-build GTI has a Rev A camshaft.

I'm now on 104,000 miles running Revo Stage 2 with new cam follower and APR fuel pump and if it works I won't mend it but will just regularly check the cam follower.

....At what sort of mileage, Alex? Or does it depend more on other factors such as regularity of oil changes etc?

Also when fitting a new follower, do you need to put oil inside the tappet - where the hpfp spring goes into it? Or just oil the flat face where it meets the cam? Thanks.

Also, I'm not sure if the Rev B cam really makes any difference to the follower issue? Surely if the Rev B cam shaft has been made harder it will cause the follower to fail quicker??

Think the follower is pre-oiled.

Think the follower is pre-oiled.
The one I have, in its little plastic container, seems to be as dry as a camel's nostril...

Once the Revision A cam starts to go it wears unevenly and exerts more pressure on a certain point of the follower causing increased wear to that specific area, Hence why the cam follower becomes domed,

The revision B is harder which means it keep the flat surface on the cam loab and exerts the pressure of the fuel pump evenly on the follower causing less wear.

....Not as dry as a nun's nasty but probably best to get a professional like vRSAlex to tell you.

QD,  Totally unrelated to the thread, but can't figure how else to contact QD other than through this last post.  Is the Clio still for sale?  If it is please email me at trevorcon@aol.com.  Everyone else....apologies for my intrusion!
