Guys I have an 09 TFsi Gti that I have owned for two months it went into the garage I bought it from for some post pick up items and they also did a full health check. Basically in the month or so since my engine has used 1.5 ltrs of oil!! There is no leak and I havent seen any smoke! What could it be? It is under s warrenty and so far they have been good with customer service but they are not a vw garage!!

Hi
Firstly - How many miles does a month equate to?
Many TFSI engines are reported to have higher than expected oil consumption and if you simply google 'TFSI oil consumption' you will be greeted with many owners who have asked the same question as you.
For your awareness VW consider a Quart in 600 miles to be within normal levels...for me that is a laughable consumption rate. So they are covered in this respect...
Here are some possibilities as to why this may be happening (but it may be none of these so please dont panic
):
- Faulty Crankcase ventilation (PCV valve) - head over to here to learn more http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,44709.0.html
- Excessive Internal vacuum within the engine? This links back in with the PCV valve.
- Worn piston ring/rings
- Faulty exhaust valves/ valve stem seals - However you would probably see smoke if this was the case.
- Could also be how the engine was run in - A new engine being babied will not help with oil consumption.
There are a number of other areas oil consumption could be a result of, so this list is not exhaustive!
There is a possibility your car will use half as much oil if you only fill half way between min and max on the dipstick as opposed to brimming - why not try it out?
I would also suggest if your car does lots of short journeys, this also seems to increase consumption.
Best thing to do is monitor regularly.
There are many threads on the topic on here as well, for example
