Fitting Lower Engine Mount?
« on: December 05, 2012, 04:58:07 pm »
Hi,

I have decided to upgrade my lower engine mount. I will be buying a Vibratechnics fast road one, but was wondering how much work it would be to fit it myself, or should I get a garage to do it? Also is it worth fitting the smaller mount on the other end as well, or should I not bother?

Cheers, Jake.

Subframe off

Old bush out

Put new bush in according to manufactures instructions.

Refit Subframe

Re-align the car.

^^^^
Is the Vibratechnics lower mount like in my photo?:

^ If it's like mine, it needs a lot of force to pump it in and you'll need to remove the subframe to do it and also, importantly, renew its bolts.

Yes looks identical to yours. If thats what is involved then I will get it fitted I think. I dont fancy doing that.  Have you just had the bigger mount changed? Or did you get thd smaller one done at the front as well?

I fitted a powerflex insert but is pretty crap imho. My Milltek DP is contacting something when wheel spinning and hopping.

Cheers.

....I first had a Powerflex insert supplied by Milltek because of this mounting breakage:

Then I had a lower engine mount followed very soon after by the other two engine mounts. Reviews and info here:
