Thanks for the Help with Pre-Cat Removal
« on: December 02, 2012, 06:39:43 pm »
Just wanted to say thanks for the people that helped and advised on the Pre-Cat removal Topic:like Dave from PDT and others

So i finally got around to removing my pre-cat with my mate today. And wow, what a difference. For 2 hours labour, you wont get a better mod.

Bit of a ball ache removing all the bolts (used 3 in 1 penetration oil form Halford - worked awesome on the rust)

Once all the cat materials was chipped out and removed, we then strapped the DP back on. started it up and straight away got a really nice burble on down revs. Took it for a spin, cant believe how more responsive it felt for a such a small cat removal.......it halfs the time of the turbo lag in normal Drive mode, but as soon as you pop it in Sports mode....wow...no lag at all !!!!

Just need my re-map now   :pomppomp: :pomppomp: :pomppomp:

Find some quick pics below:

Cheers.  Is it possible to take out the main cat at the same time, or the pipe too restrictive?

Just getting all the bolts lose....make sure you have some penetrating oil...like the 3 in 1 from halford or Duck oil.

Yes you could do but it would be an MOT failure. Your better off buying one of those £140 decat pipes off ebay though

@ ROSS - Glad your pleased with this cheap little mod. Surprised more people havent done it by now. its a Win-Win  :happy2:

Cheers, wouldn't that be an MOT failure too?

Think I'll leave the main cat, just want to keep it OEM.

Yes any Decat would be an MOT failure, and your insurance would probably be void.

The ebay downpipes would give you a better flow, if that was the way you wanted to go
