Locked ECU
« on: December 09, 2012, 11:56:33 am »
first part of the story i have mk5 golf gti edition 30 with superchips stage 2 map.

i recently went to get my dsg box mapped to stage 2, got there and had the car rolling roaded made 293bhp. they started to try and do the dsg mapping but found that the ecu was locked, so they werent able to load the map.

since coming back, i started looking around on the internet to see if i could find out why the ecu had been locked. anyway after a little bit of searching i found that the ecu on the mk6 R could be locked from the number of times that the cars ecu had been flashed.... thats if the ecu flash count wasnt put back to what it was from standard. i did also read that the ecu could be unlocked by replacing the flash counter or a factory update. so my question is, could this be the same problem that i am am having with my eddy? also has anyone else had this issue?

The superchips map will lock your ecu so that any other tuner cannot access your ecu to copy their map.

If you have a bluefin unit you can remove the map from the car and it will not be locked anymore then you can reinstall the superchips map after you get the DSG map

Mapping the DSG ecu shouldn't be affected by the map stored in the engine ECU. I never have a problem reading DSG ecu's on cars with Revo, Superchips etc....

If they were trying to read the engine ECU then they won't be able to if it as a superchips map on it as they contain 'no read markers' to stop people copying and reselling their map.
