Best drop for car with Monza 17's?
« on: December 09, 2012, 12:31:42 pm »
Looking at some springs for my GTI and just wondered what is the best drop e.g 30mm/45mm etc  but I am keeping my 17inch Monzas
, without to much comprise in ride comfort etc. Eibach/H&R??

Any pictures would be good with Golf lowered on 17's

Thanks

So where did you get the sportlines from and what is the ride like?

Also what drop did you get looks about right in the picture?

Got them from Demon Tweeks I think. Sure the drop was about 45-50mm.

Ride is fine - almost as if your running standard. Bit firmer but solid in the bends.

Maybe wasn't as much as that to be honest, but not far off it.

It's a 45mm drop for a standard golf or a GT. the GTI sits lower than the others so these will springs will only give YOUR CAR about 30mm MAX.

Mine is on H&R's and sits slightly lower than Eibachs, ride comfort is great, just slightly firmer than stock. No scraping over speed bumps even with 5 adults in.

There's plenty of threads on ride comfort with lowering springs but they all give the same answer.

I think there is only one spring type that H&R do. I bought mine from Larkspeed as they were the cheapest. You get an ACTUAL 30ish mm

I just had a look and yes they only have 30mm drop. Will give them  a go as had had eibachs on my golf v5 and have heard good things on here about H&R's. Thank you.

 presuming yours is a GTI, you only get 30mm (ish) from eibachs. If yours was an SE or summat, then 45mm is achievable  :happy2:

Bit of emphasising going on here  :drinking:
