Hesitation when accelerating
« on: December 07, 2012, 11:13:32 am »
As the title says, i've noticed my car hesitates when i first put my foot down around 2k to 3kish revs ive only noticed it when cruising on motorways, its like there's a slight pause before the power comes in and then everything is fine.
I can't get it to do on command it just catches me out unexpectedly and it only seems to do it now and again. I've not long had the sparkplugs and oil changed.

Could this possibly be the DV as I plan on replacing it with a revision G soon.

Thanks

Cuuld be a dirty MAF sensor?

You can buy electrical cleaner from halfords which will help to clean it up a bit. maybe worth a try. . .

Now you say that, the day I got my car the exhaust emission light came on i had it scan and it also showed two faults for the MAF sensor, we didn't know how long they'd been on there and i thought the car was fine so we left it at that, could this be because it was dirty?

I've found the electronic cleaner in halfords online, if I remove the sensor and spray it should this solve the problem, that's if it's dirty and not broken?

Its worth a try for the sake of £4 I recon.

Its dead easy to do, just remove 2 screws and pull it out, cover it in electrical cleaner and give it 30mins to dry then stick it back in  :happy2:

No definitely not, theres a slight pause some times before the power comes in not all the time just now and again. I'll give it a good clean tomorrow if its dry and hopefully it should solve it.

Ko3 or Ko4?

Edit: just seen your sig. Ko3 is actually on the turbo unit, passenger wheel off and whip out the arch liner is the best approach iirc  :happy2:

Just over 50k miles it doesn't do it on start up just when I'm cruising along.

I'll look in to fitting the DV then along as its not too much of a pain to fit.
