Pre-cat delete EGT's
« on: December 12, 2012, 09:48:40 am »
I did the pre-cat delete yesterday, great mod... the VCDS dyno is showing around 6bhp and 11 lb/ft increase; but the main reason I did this was to bring my EGT's down, now down by 60*C off peak numbers over 3 runs.

Surely that's got to add some longevity to the turbine.; that pre-cat brickwall can't be healthy when your running updated software, even if it's just stage 1.

I've noticed a slight decrease in spoolup time, and slightly more turbo noise.

Induction kit now :)

I achieved a similar result when I had my sports cat fitted, in which of course the downpipe contains no pre-cat... the TWINtake could suck a golf ball through a garden hose now

lmao!
I'm thinking of the TT, how you finding it... too noisy?
The reason I ask is because the GTI is a nice quiet car when you want it to be and I don't want to ruin that aspect, but I do want to have all the noises when I want them, i.e. at WOT.
