How many miles you getting on a Full Tank?
« on: December 13, 2012, 08:21:58 pm »
Just want to compare with a few of you guys. Now i know it all depends on town, city or motorway miles and how heavy footed you are.

Most of my miles are city miles, as i do mainly short journey to the local customers we have and the occasional 100 mile drive.

I wouldn't say i thrash it all the time, maybe even 50% i just stick it in drive (DSG gearbox) do can be in 5th or 6th before you know it.

Any ways....at the minute where I live, Shell V-power is about £1.37 p/l, it comes up saying something like 300 miles to petrol station.....but i think im only getting around 280 miles to a full tank.

Pretty bad?.....what you guys getting?

I would say I average 340-360 miles with a mix of A, B roads. When motorway driving and a mix of A and B I've got 370 at a push.

I use either tesco momentum or v power and get between 330 - 360 miles per tank. Worst I've got is 160 and best is about 375, could've been more but got bored seein how many I could get

In fact, whilst on this topic, how do you keep the average MPG going on the clock. it seems to keep my last 2 journeys, but not an overall....havent really had time to read the manual or play about.

Press the reset button on the rhs stalk quickly and it changes to a second reading which is your constant average MPG.

And 250 miles on a tank is bad. Unless your going everywhere at warp speed

I very rarely fill up completely when at home as its not worth it but day to day we average 27mpg. Recently went from Cumbria to Kent and managed about 360 before I felt like I should fill up, I think that was about 33-35mpg ave for the journey.
I never used to use "premium" petrol as a rule until I read a thread on here recently about the effects it has so currently in a long term trial using V-power, so far over 2 months I can't say i've noticed any difference in mpg but I must admit the car does feel a little sharper, but that it all.

I think i'll play this game too - 603 miles from filling it up the neck until the red light coming on and it still said I had 65 miles to go!  :P
But it is a diesel!

I'm probably getting on average 250 - 300 miles per tank. That said that estimation is made on the basis of not using any motorways, which I very rarely do. 99% of my driving is 30mph stop/start traffic. I've came close to 400 miles on a long motorway haul, but I was driving like an OAP and basically trying for high MPG, so not exactly normal driving.

Ha, yeah that's about right. I try not to let it get to me but the worst thing is that it will say 127, but I bet you get 90 max.

Glad it not just me then. i have flicked the switch so i cant see the MPG any more. It ruins your day. And MPG is not why i bought the car. Plus work pays for the mileage.

You know you havent had a fun day if your MPG is over 28

Not really, if its say £80 to fill up the tank with V Power and it says 360 miles......
