My GY F1 v2 fronts are approaching the wear markers and ive done ~20,000  miles on them (since xmas last year)... i consider that too be excellent value for money, because not only do they perform well, they also last.

I changed my front tyres first and the car was oversteering with the worn PS3s still on the rear. An odd sensation having to apply a touch of opposite lock exiting corners in a car that would normally be more prone to understeer!

PS3s aren't great in my opinion. I got around 16000 miles out of my set, but I was willing them to die so I could change them after about a quarter of that distance. By all accounts the PS2 is a better tyre for performance use and runs alongside the PS3 in the range, not superseded by it. I've got winter tyres on at the mo', but had replaced the Michelins with Asymmetric 2s before they went on. They're light years ahead in grip with better bite in the corners and much less vague on turn in than the understeer-prone PS3s. Wearing out rather more rapidly, though!

That's good to know, I think I may keep with the AS2's then, as I wouldn't want to lose that grip for the sake of a few thousand more miles wear.

Cr@p it must be my lead foot that only gets 8-10k outta them... tbh I think it's worse than that. :ashamed:

I am also thinking of the Goodyear Eagle F1 assys next as a lot of you guys have recommended it. I'm running 17 monza, so wondering are these still the best option?, as most have 18's.

Thanks

I found that with mine, they are lasting nicely

I'm sure mk5gtian is spreading the word that these wear out quickly

I'm not even going to mention a certain tyre test to satisfy Nodz

I've ran both on mk5 GTi's (Pzero on the old one, PS3's on the new one) and the Michelin's feel a lot better in both wet and dry conditions.

Out of interest what mileage did you get out of the Dunlop Sport Max TT, the tires many GTI's shipped with?

Why do some of you  not rate them, given VW factory fitted them they can't be dreadful can they? After all they aren't budget tyres etc?

Got them on mine but fronts getting low (bought in Aug)

The Dunlops have been pretty bad since the spring of last year when I guess they were less than half worn.

On fast sweeping motorway bends in damp conditions (off the M60 not far from us) they just feel like they are going to let go at any moment. I appreciate their is a lot of power to help break the traction but I've had plenty of powerful cars in my time and I have least confidence in the golf with these tyres in damp conditions, its great in the dry. Maybe its just a sensation or misconception on my part because they've never actually sent me into a ditch. They just don't inspire confidence. I think I mentioned elsewhere, but I've had wheelspin accelerating to 80mph and beyond (Ahem 70mph officer) joining some motorway junctions.

Mileage wise they were already on my car when I bought it at 4300 miles last year and its slowly approaching 20k now. The tyres still all have approx 3mm of tread (the back maybe more, I rotated them early summer this year). So I should get a good 18,000 miles out of them and I don't drive particularly sedately but on the other hand I don't drag race every traffic light - I'd lose anyway as the car would just sit and spin its tyres haha.

Reading other feedback it may well be the Goodyears going on mine next time round then. I'll deffo report my feelings when I do.

Again I've had no experience of the tyres you mention, but I always buy either continental contact sports or F1s, and they are great ! I think I preferred the contis last time though but since then both GY and Continental have released new versions so I might just go with the cheapest.
I will say I was very interested in the mich supersports until I found that they are not produced in the size / ratings we need on the golf.

Contis are great in the dry, not so confidence inspiring when it's wet, though.
