I've got Conti SC2's that came with my car from new last July. I definitely prefer the Goodyear AS2's on my previous car especially in these cold, damp conditions.

My GY F1 v2 fronts are approaching the wear markers and ive done ~20,000  miles on them (since xmas last year)... i consider that too be excellent value for money, because not only do they perform well, they also last.

....Lasting well with me too. I agree when you say that much is down to driving style. I'm a slow-in and fast-out style of corner taker, helped by my Quaife. I never get tyre squeal on the road.

Am on my third set of Goodyear Asymmetric F1's and it's good not having to think what tyres to buy next.  :happy2: I simply don't drive my car when there is any snow and, otherwise, drive safely according to the road conditions and traffic.

Just dragging this post back up because........

New Goodyear Eagle F1's being fitted in the morning, then its off for some extensive road testing

Plenty of moist roads to test them on up here, I don't think I've ever been excited by fitting something so boring as tyre's before, I must be getting old  :signLOL: or I'm fed up of the traction control light spoiling the fun recently. I think a Superpro rear engine mount can be ordered as well, while its up on the ramps and I can check which variant I need. At least that counts as an actual mod rather than a necessity..... although it could be argued that its a necessity too!

....You need to wear in new tyres by doing at least 100 miles and then make sure they are up to temperature before "testing" them.

Also, if you are driving efficiently you should be able to avoid wheelspin by progressively using your right foot - Power is useless without traction. Tyres and their condition are only one element in the equation, although a very important one.

I found that with mine, they are lasting nicely

I'm sure mk5gtian is spreading the word that these wear out quickly

I'm not even going to mention a certain tyre test to satisfy Nodz

I missed that little quip back in December Graeme! You are right though, The F1 Assy 2's are bald before you've put your credit card back  in your wallet

What's the verdict on the F1's? Quite fancy trying them when my PS3's are done.

In what way? Grip, longevity, etc?

Absolutely brilliant compared to the Dunlop's that they replaced and still not run-in etc. They just inspire a lot more confidence and feel more planted in all weather's. A very happy customer up to now  :happy2: :happy2:

....Is it fair to say that a '4WD'/Haldex car will have slightly more tyre wear?

Probably. More factors include weight and the big lump under the bonnet, but as I said, I got about 16K out of the Michelins and reckon I'll only see half that out of the Goodyears.
