Replacing accelerator pedal.
« on: December 16, 2012, 04:54:47 pm »
I have just got hold of some R32 pedals and wanting to know is it a matter of unplugging the old and plugging in the new one? Or is there some adaptation to be done? Did have a quick search on here and came across a thread which described throttle/throttle body adaptation.

Are the tdi acc pedals not different to the petrol pedals?

Do you have the tool to remove the old pedal Matt?

I've got VCDS so that's no problem.

Alex, I just assumed they would be the same. What tool is needed? Something special?

It's a twin pronged tool that slides into the bottom of the pedal to release the clips.  I have one.

I know the one in my altea is different, but yours may be the same.

Ah right ok. Will look at the R pedal and see if I can see how that was fastened down. How did you think the petrol one was different to the diesel one?

Do you know anything about the adaptation procedure?

I've fitted r32 pedals to my tdi, no problems.  Think I used a screw driver to remove the old one.
It wasn't difficult anyway.

Cheers bacillus. That was what I read the other day. Someone had copy and pasted it into a thread on here. It does seem after a quick read I won't need or be able to do it and I have learnt something. It says TDi's don't have a throttle body.

Little update and just for info really. I managed to fit the R pedals with no problems. After seeing how they came out I managed to remove mine with a couple of screwdrivers. I also found that the plastics had been broken on the R pedal by whoever removed them. I decided to remove just the R pedal part and fit to my actuator part. Nice and easy to do and means I keep my original pedal.

I also checked the part numbers for the different pedals and they are the same bar the last 2 digits. For example the original was 6PV 008 745 - 00 and the R was 6PV 008 745 - 20.
