Thermostat part no. HELP NEEDED PLEASE!!!
« on: December 19, 2012, 07:21:49 pm »
I need a new thermostat for the golf, everywhere I ring they are pricing them at around £30-£35.
I will not be paying that amount for one when they are on eBay for less that £10.
Would this one be right for me??

Thanks

What car have you got?
Without traction power is nothing!

I don't need to replace the entire housing though, I only want to change the thermostat.

Is the one I have posted going to work as I will buy it if it is..

afaik the thermostat is a whole housing not just the little thermostat like in the old days. What you have linked won't fit.

I have bought a new thermostat and attempted to fit it today, but it has it gone well at all!

I removed the alternator to get at it, managed to get all the bolts out and even managed to move it around half and inch, but could not for the life of me get it out!! It seems to be stuck behind the alternator and power steering mount?? Do I have to take the entire mount out or is there something I am missing here??

Any help would be great as I have now given up and put it all back together and left it.
