....That's exactly the gripe I have. Driving at speed it's not nice to hear a sudden alert bong. I quickly got rid of the default bong when reaching 70 mph - You're in the middle of a fast overtake and you suddenly hear "bong!" - It's actually potentially dangerous in my opinion. I was driving someone else's car recently with them as passenger and suddenly it went "bong!" so my immediate thought was "sh*t!" and I lifted off the throttle. He then told me it was set at 100 mph. Sensible in a way for the UK as it's a ban, but the same bong is not a good idea.

Nikon offer options of different sounds on their Coolpix S30 (including a chicken and a barking dog!) so why can't Volkswagen manage to do so?

....Sorry Jaz, but I don't understand why that's important - Probably becauser I very rarely use either aircon or the car heater except to demist.

....But you're not a computer, you are human and prone to all the human failings which include not always realising just how cold it is outside. In the days before in-car temperature info I've rolled a car on black ice (a long and very amusing story) - Outside temperatures fluctuate and monitoring them with the help of a bong is usually the only way you can be aware of the liklihood.... Many a time have I been driving fast on a cold morning but feeling how my tyres are performing, consequently being very focussed on that and not the gauges, and then the bong alerts me to 4 degrees and I know to slow down and take extra care.

Black ice and rolling a car is exactly what happened to me!

The bong is a tad worrying because like it's been pointed out it's the same for everything. But once it alerts me to the temperature I always take extra care which can never be a bad thing   :smiley:

I find it takes longer to warm the car up and to demist when the AC is off.

How many different tones do you need?  :laugh: Bong + warning light +/- warning message is enough for me.

....Never, I've never had heated seats fitted in my car, I don't like them, and anyway my car has Recaro's. If it's a cold (or wet) day I'll dress accordingly.

Just realised the drug implications of that comment.

Heated seats are amazing though, does start to feel like you've wet yourself after a while though. Might be on my own with that one....
