Jonnys Black GTi - KNIGHTRIDER
« on: December 21, 2012, 03:11:25 pm »
finally got rid of my type r after 3 years great ownership and found this little beaut!

black mk 5 gti, 77k with one owner from new, cloth tartan interior (didnt fancy leather in a car this age), 18'' monzas (of which two will need small repairs). so far the early signs of my first golf are V good! pulls so much nicer than the honda. completely different sort of power and i love it!! got a few plans for it after scoping this and the edition 38 forum out for the past 2 weeks  :innocent: going to get a stage 1 remap, coilovers, different wheels (christ knows theres enough choice!!) would love a set of alphards, or a set of audi a3 sportlines. little things i can do in the mean time like LED sidelights, LED interior lights, HID's, aux for the cd player. anyway heres some pictures of the beast! not clean but ill get a chance to give it a detail over xmas

hoping the DVLA get there arses in gear by new year so i can put my private plate on (below, and an excuse to show my old car  :happy2:)

Look great mate  :happy2:

The type-r is a good car but I think you will enjoy the ease of power and tuning with the GTI.

finally had a chance to give the car a detail post christmas. weathers not been great so tucked the car into my mates garage and set to work!

just drying off before applying the paint cleaner

using my own 3 step method, and a brand new bottle of meguiares gold class wax

now, i was informed by the dealer i bought the car off that it had been fully valeted and cleaned for me. needless to say the cloth speaks for itself

glass guard! amazing stuff for, well............glass lol. no squeaking of windscreen wipers ever again with loads of beading!

step 1 finished and buffed ready for the polish

drivers side finished

nice reflection shot

final buff off. pleased with the result!

some finished shots (iphone and digital cam pictures so excuse some crap ones, im not the best photographer)

now i know the blue neons wont be to everyones taste but dont worry. i have some LED sidelights on order from ebay that are pure white

im hoping for some rain to see just how good the beading is :D

coilovers next

another little update with a few touches. ordered an i phone adaptor from amazon for £20. decent compromise rather than wire an FM modulator in, or atleast until i can afford the full screen headunit.

please ignore my work trainer lol

LED numberplate lights old vs new

nice little garage to work in :D

no idea why ive got glare but it looks kinda cool really. the front LEDS are white though they look blue in the photo

Looking good Jonny!

Black is the best colour I think! Bast to keep clean however

As for the full screen headunit, I considered it but couldnt really justify the £1000 pricetag. Had the VW bluetooth installed instead and at £250 its a handy piee of kit. Must admit however, the full screen kit looks great in the car :happy2:

Keep polishing m8!

Looks nice and shiny fella, good job.

As for a Headunit, go for a RNS510 (version C or above as they are the LED screen ones) which sell for around £450+ and get a OEM Bluetooth kit from Eddie-NL for about £170 IIRC.
