I am just finishing the last of Lee Child's books to bring me up to date. The Jack Reacher character is one to be truly admired.

Tom Cruise is a very good actor and in theory can pull it off once you get past the size conundrum.

If you read Robin then please read some of these books, in fact if you read one you will be hooked.

I like the fight clip in the trailer, where Tom goes "Seriously?"  and I'm expecting the two goons to go "tell me about it, what are you 5'6", 5'7" ?   :-)

I might actually go watch this... Thought it may be another Bourne knock off!

Many people on here recommend the books.... i took a quick look on Amazon and discovered that a fair few have been written over the years!

How many books have been written to date? What do you reckon, start from the beginning and work forward to present day?

Thanks

Richard

I would start at the beginning as you learn a lot about Jack as you go along but its not essential IMO.  I think I've read most of them, can't remember (even after looking on Amazon  :ashamed:). I read the other day there have been 17 books with Jack Reacher as the central character, seems right over the past 15 years. Have never bought one, nick my dads "hand me downs".

Crikey, I don't have time to read so many books. It's taken me a year to read Keith Richards' autobiog  :notworthy:

My next book is "Mr Nice" autobiog by Howard Marks. I don't tend to read fiction/novels, I prefer movies.

A close friend of mine who knows a lot about what's happened in my life keeps telling me that I should write a book but A) I'm not famous, and B) I don't 'kiss and tell' and I'd probably get shot by someone if I did!

Mr Nice is a good book, I quite a read of "True Crime/Autobiographies" as it shows both sides of the criminals and the police forces catching them (and what lengths the police forces go to, to catch them).

Mr Nice is one of the best books I've ever read. It is completely gripping, beautifully written, and I could barely put it down. I prefer auto biogs as well, I prefer stories on the silver screen.

My daughter bought me "Mr Nice" to read. Like Keith Richards, it's my generation and so I can relate to it all very strongly.  :happy2:

Agree with Mr Nice. Keith Moon autobiography is also great.

....Thanks for the Keith Moon heads-up. I can't imagine him writing his autobiography!

^^^^ i cant imagine him remembering anything that happened let a lone writing it down.  :notworthy:

Quote from Roger Daltrey...

"I think if Keith Moon was here today and you asked him to recall most of his early life or most of his life, he wouldn't be able to recall it."

I'm not sure he could write! Great book, tragic, exhilarating and fascinating in equal measures. I only tend to read auto biogs. Another favourite is Richard Bransons.

Let's be honest Tom is too small for many of the characters he has portrayed over the years (Especcially when tney put him with 5'9"+ leading ladies) but we should all be used to it by now, we put up with it from lickle Mel Gibson all these years  :signLOL:
