No power??!!
« on: December 24, 2012, 02:54:34 pm »
Hi guys, was wondering if anyone has ever had the same problem as this? went for a drive yesterday and noticed my car seems to have no turbo boost what so ever!

Im running an R-Tech stage 1 map on my 05 manual GTI (AXX) and the car hasnt missed a beat since i had it done, but yesterday i got in the car drove it and in each gear at any revs you floor it and theres just no boost at all its like my cars is just a 2.0 NA engine. I also noticed that when you dip the clutch to change gear or coast towards lights the revs dont drop to 1k straight away it seems to hold the revs a bit and then drop causing a bumpy gear change or sometimes as though theres no engine breaking and it keeps driving for a split second and then starts to slow down.

The car itself ticks over fine, there is a slight bump in the revs but nothing massively out of the ordinary, starts 1st time on the money everytime and doesnt seem to change wether the engines warm or cold and there has been no lights come on on the dash

About 18 months ago my DV tore so had to replace to the Rev D, the fault i had then was obvious you could hear the air streaming out, this time its as though there is no boost building up as no matter how hard i drive it i cant hear any air noises, so i thought it might be the PCV valve so ive checked this today and it seems to be fine, i cant blow back down the tube into the engine when removed from the manifold and when all connected and the engines running the old remove the dipstick causes the engine to run like a bag of spanners!

After searching the forum and using google for the last 24 hours im no better off so thought id ask the guys in the know!

Basically has anyone ever had a similar experience with their cars? Anyone know what could cause this? Obviously i need to scan it with a VCDS but as its xmas time getting hold of someone with one in my area will be like trying to sell water to a fish, its not going to happen!! Haha so if anyone has any clue of what could cause this then you would make my xmas!!

I'm not sure about the R-Tech but I've heard of other tuners maps going back to standard for some reason or another, perhaps this is the case with yours?

It could also well be the DV again; even the piston ones fail.

As you say get it on the VCDS when you can to log any fault codes.  Best of luck.

Im pretty sure its not gone back to standard it feels like its about 100 bhp down on power, theres literally no torque what so ever, if it was the DV failing would it not make a noise the the old Rev C did when it tore or do the Rev D valves fail in a different way?

It's in limp mode. If it stays in this mode after ignition off/on you'll need a scan.

Your N75 valve could be stuck open and therefore no turbo spool.

R- Tech map won't be lost if you remove the battery etc (I tried on mine).

I'm sure Nick would solve it if you can get the car there, customer service is second to non  :happy2:
