Brake advice

Evening all, hope you've all had a good X-mas - Im writing this about 3 stone heavier than when I woke up this morning!

Anyway to the point...

My brakes are literally on the metal, grinding something horrific!

I have a 2005 GT SPORT (140) & I dont personally think the breaks are too special I want to replace the whole lot, i.e discs, pads, calipers & hoses. I dont have the funds or know how to go mad on a big break kit from a porsche or anything like that but im wondering what I can upgrade the parts with that will all fit together and be a direct fit if that makes any sense to anyone? - Im horrific at explaining myself lol....

P.S - I will be buying my parts from camberly as a friend of mine works there...

An upgrade to GTi spec 312mm discs will be the cheapest upgrade path, only need the discs and caliper carriers as the calipers are the same  :happy2:

Next step will be a change of calipers, discs and hoses to 345mm R32/S3/Cupra fronts, great upgrade imo  :happy2:

If you buy GTI/GT170 carriers then you can keep your calipers, dust shields and hoses. Effectively going from 288mm discs to 312mm with same pads - I noticed on my TDI140 it was better at biting down, and will be the cheapest upgrade. Minimum OEM wheel that'll then fit is 16".

Next up, but staying OEM is a 345mm R32/S3/Cupra setup - great setup but fairly expensive. You'll need the whole setup and that includes hoses, dust shields and a brake bleed. Minimum OEM wheel that'll then fit is 17".
I may have a set up for sale in a week or so, depending on whether my current ones fit my mates Audi TDI that he's buying.

I literally know nothing about brakes other than the fact they are in between the throttle and cluthch ;)

how big a job is it to do such an upgrade i.e R32 or cupra?

Daz, yes I do have the rears, but they are staying fitted.

Blue, sorry for not putting them up in the sale section yet. I've not had chance to clean them up.
