PAGID Brake - Part No's please.
« on: December 27, 2012, 09:16:57 am »
Alright guys.

I'm going to get new pads/discs all round for the GTi (07 plate) and I'm tempted by the PAGID stuff from ECP, particularly as they have a sale on at the moment and there is a place in Aberdeen. I've had a read of a fair few threads on here so aware that ECP has a history of not providing the pads etc in the dark blue boxes etc.

What has stumped me though (not hard) is the part numbers for the front and rear pads as there are a couple of options. I'm happy enough with the discs as I know its the 312 on the front and 286 on the rear.

Can anyone advise what the part no's are for the front and rear pads please?

Thanks in advance.

Gaz

Thanks for the reply. Did wonder if they were up to much. Though to be honest, I just want to change my pads and discs without paying VW £500 for the privilege.

Looking at Mtec disks now. They also do packages with mintex pads so may go for them.

Bosch OE pads are the best available for standard stuff, Mintex OE are VERY dusty.

Do you have an Andrew page near you?

Afraid not, looks like they are all down south. Will search for the Bosch part numbers and see who up here can supply.

I'd appreciate it if you could post the Bosch part numbers. I need a pair of front pads.

Cheers

Local TPS will sell Bosch pads, so will Andrew Page and GSF:

http://www.gsfcarparts.com/branches

GSF also sell Bembo OE pads which are also good. Have them on my X5.

Thanks. Do you know the bosch part numbers by any chance? We have a TPS in Aberdeen, and I think they are OK about selling to joe public, so will give them a bell.

Thanks in advance.

Had a search on Bosch's website. The part number for the front (I think) is BP938 - though it states its for the 288x25mm system - where as I'm assuming all GTI's have 312x25mm?

Rears are less clear - I think DP1449, DP1192 or DP937 - depending on where you look!!

288x25 and 312x25 share the same caliper and so it's the same pad.

I doubt Pagids are crap and Bosch are any better. Both are OEMs. You won't
struggle with  AP, Ate, Bosch, Brembo, Ferodo, Hawk, Jurid, Pagid or Textar.

Just avoid EBC.  :fighting: And purchase where the shop is able to sell you
the correct parts without spending hours on looking for the part numbers.

Ever since ECP started selling Pagid as their budget brand of pads (using the pagid name as a sign of quality maybe?) we have had nothing but trouble with them. Its not just us either, loads of my friends and contacts in the trade hate them and even the local ECP rep recognises they are not great. Problems are:

overheating very easily
edges of pads crumbling
lots of pad transfer onto disc during early life causing brake judder
pad squeal
poor fitment

Pagid pads sold by ECP are NOT the same as the Pagid brand that makes the brilliant aftermaket uprated brake pads.

Had a set of ECP supplied Pagid 345s with Pads.

Knew the price was too good to be true. Absolute trash they were on a soaking wet track day! Only 1 month old too. Promptly binned them for a set of APs.

To be avoided at all cost in my view.
