Could this be a knackered dv?

Today my car felt unusual to drive. There seemed to be a lack of boost when accelerating. It didn't feel as powerful and there seems to be a bit of a whistle when I accelerate. Other than this it seems OK. Would this be the sign of a dv problem. I have read lots about people changing them in the past and I'm hoping that this is the problem. I have an 05 Gti with original dv. I believe that this is the type with the rubber diaphragm that splits. Do my symptoms fit with this? If so, I'll try and get the rev g fitted in the new year. Please advise, thanks.

On my last 07 tfsi with original C dv.
The best way I could describe the failure was I found myself with the foot on the floor when wanting to overtake etc.
The car just seemed to have more turbo lag.
Other times I drove it I didn't think it was too bad.
I then replaced it for a revision D valve and my god it was like a remap.
Obviously it had gradually failed and I'd just got used to it.
Mine failed at 22k so that proves they are pretty delicate.

Sounds very similar to when my old mk5 limped in to Storm developments with a paultry 170 bhp. The original diaphragm DV had split leding to a lack of boost.

Thanks for the help guys  It gives me a bit a reassurance that it's probably just that I need a new DV and nothing more serious. I'll try and get one fitted A.S.A.P and hope that it cures the problem. I want my acceleration back!!
