Car running rough now with photos
« on: December 28, 2012, 01:46:54 am »
Car has been running fine but a few weeks ago i was overtaking a car and was accelerating hard, it was fine and then it sort of died on me, as in no power the engine was still running, it was like it had no fuel then after a few seconds it went again, any how on the way to work tonight the exhaust warning light came on,car was running fine. then on the way home i gave it a lot of throttle and the same problem returned. basically if i drive normal it runs fine but when i give it the beans it goes then dies then picks up again.
i hope this will make sense to someone and im hoping its a cheap fix.
its a stage 1 DSG but ive had the map on the car for a long time now and never had any problems until now.
thanks for any replies in advance

get it logged with VCDS.

Might be coilpack/spark plug. Maybe even lambada sensor.

I've just had the same prob with my stage 1 eddy, vcds said misfire of cylinder 4 so swapped spark plug 4 with no 1 but same prob and then did same with coils and turned out to be the coil, £30 ish from dealer happy days. Ideally you need to get it plugged in 1st

Had the car fault read by a friend today, and came back with this code: P000A, he said it was something to do with a camshaft sensor? Anyhow he cleared the fault and i took the car out to test and it still has the problem but the fault light hasn't come back on yet. Just a matter of time i think.
Well I've had to bite the bullet and got it booked in to VW Eurocanterbury next week.

that does include a new cambelt as well, even tho mine was done 18 mths ago, they suggested they always replace it when taking the cam out.

VW started to explain about the fuel pump and easiest way he could explain was something about a plunger connection from fuel pump to camshaft was causing no fuel explaining loss of power. So i was expecting him to say i needed a new fuel pump, and he said the camshaft has worn so needs replacing! does this sound viable!

cam follower x 1. How old is your car may i ask? If it's 5 or more years old, i would hope that you changed the cam follower when you went Stage 1!?

its 2007 and ive not had it replaced, is it worth getting them to change that whilst doing the camshaft?
