RNS510 Update help request
« on: December 28, 2012, 02:56:09 pm »
Hey,

I searched the internet but got no answer to my question.

First some info about my RNS-510:

HW-version: H42, SW-version: 1304 Delivery Part Number: 3T0035680A

Now my question is, to wich firmware can I safely upgrade without the need of a recode? Can I upgrade to 3814 safely?

Thanks!
Wes

Ok, I read some topics about RNS-510 firmware and this is my conclusion:

I can't go from a 1xxx firmware to higher than 268x firmware. So I have to upgrade to this version and then to 38xx? I cant go higher than 38xx without recoding? Or is there a modified version so recoding is not needed anymore?

Hi

Not sure if this helps you, but a couple years ago I fitted a RNS510 vers B unit HW04 firmware 1100 into my 05 GTI.

Not knowing what vers my canbus was, I suspected it would of needed changing, I played safe and installed modified firmware 2760/1200 and I've had no problems. (No Rosenberg syndrome and no battery drain)

Since then I haven't felt the need to update the firmware further. I've updated my maps as each new version has became available, version 7 with the updated firmware gave 7 digit postcode input, then vers 8 speed cams and I presently have vers 9 7920 maps with speed cams installed.

There are modified versions of 1300, 2760 and 3810 for the revision A, I don't think you go go any higher
