Well been to the Palace. What a day.
Everything you imagine x 100. I stayed in a 5* hotel near the Palace, The Goring - What a hotel. Really great start to the occasion.
The taxi ride to the Palace was surreal, arriving at the main front gate which is thronged by tourists, fighting way through, showing the invite to the police, and in you go.
The palace is a beautiful place, you enter the quadrangle and enter the palace and it suddenly becomes very real. Large Priceless paintings, Household cavalry lining the stairs, household staff, immensely British.
I got talking to a Gold medal Olympian, she was so nervous. I met lots of award recipients, there were only 6 Forces personnel there.
A String quintet were playing music all the way through, Beefeaters were ever present, along with lots of high ranking Aides De Camps.
Great times, and receiving the award was
one of the best moment
s of my career.
