Well now I am none too jaded, i shall tell a little of the weekend.
We received the request to take an aircraft there a while ago, i tried to get a team together to no avail, so in the end we took only the bare minimum personnel.
we arrived late afternoon on thurs, and landed near the Land rover experience, blew all sorts of Sh!te over the nice F1 Sim, which had just been polished! We set up camp in the marshalls camp site, much to the amusement of the other occupants, after we had been to the Goodwood Hotel for a couple of liverners!
Friday set the tone really, we were inundated with people who wanted to ask about the aircraft, who wanted to see the inside, hang off the aerials
, and generally hear about the Squadron.
Then I got to wander about, and was a touch thirsty, so visted the Audi VIP area (*supposed to be an audi owner - so close enough really, with a VW being a rather upmarket Audi!
A visit (reece) was made to the Qatar Airways area, and much was found out,
Then the invite to the Balcony
So this set the tone................ unfortunately i had to disapear to collect some stuff on sat, so left just after the typhoon display and didn't arrive back until 6 ish.
Sat night will remain a closely guarded secret, enough to say JB and his dad are nice blokes, Will Young is a top live act, and little Tom Daly has got some large kahunas!! Diving off that board!! i was very close to the firework display when we handed over Hong Kong to the Chinese, and i would say that these were on a par.
That night, I spoke with a lot of people, who were all genuine car lovers, and made some great contacts, especially with a certain female.
!! I was humbled by the kind words that were said, and rather sabotaged by the amount of fizz toasts made!
Sunday was not a special morrning, but was a great afternoon, with all the usual haunts and invites. The Fezza paddock was great! with a guided tour of the cars by the F1 mechanics manager, who had been resplendent the previous night in his nice grey jacket!
So you can see that the weekend was a fantastic occasion for me, we showed about 2000 people around a workhorse, and had some great times. I managed only to take pics on the Friday, due to obvious reasons!
Sad i didn't meet anyone i knew from the forum, but i did have a strange meeting, i met a girl i used to work with 17 years ago, she had won two tickets and drove from Aberdeen with her other half to the show, and i also met lots of old workmates, who also just happened to be at the show.
