And just to put things into perspective a few big power bikes 'playing' with a 335d (obv. easily with a Ed.30 too).

After 1st and 2nd gear any extra low down torque diesels might offer dont mean anything. Peak hp rules, just take a look at the rev range that is being used in all out acceleration. After hitting the rev limiter in 2nd and going into 3rd, high low are the revs gonna drop?  4.5-5t? Not exactly peak torque terratory. If the car has more hp on the dyno but suffer on the road, it most likely has inadequate cooling. Anyway, happy new year and let our engine's live long and happy lives :)

PDT - What spec/power is your stage 2 ED30? When my car was stage 2 ish (320bhp) I'd easy pull away from standard 335 diesel or petrol.

Sunglasses Ron is your man for roll on knowledge when it comes to these!

I can only comment on my own experiences, where the FWD golf would struggle for grip the RWD car would pull away easily, then both we're similar in performance until high speeds where the BMW was better. On a different day with different drivers the result may have been different.

I had a go against a stg2+ golf in the 335d when it was mapped, the BM walked away from it, again down to grip levels. Golf was driven and owned by a member on here.

Leave my out of it

I couldnt get traction on the road surface (horrible red tarmac) and the BMW just pulled away, had decent tyres on aswell :drinking:
Wasnt driving at any high speeds, this was basically just coming off a roundabout, and 1/4 mile up the road

So a 335d is quicker than a stage 2 E30 with incorrectly fitted camshafts  :innocent:
